Starting his second game after missing 25 with a neck injury, the Rangers' No. 1 goalie made 32 saves as New York defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 on Tuesday night. I knew it was going to take me a couple games to get going, and this was definitely a good step for me.'' Mark Stone and the Ottawa Senators found a way to keep pace in the playoff hunt. Stone scored the final goal in a shootout, and the Senators beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night. Mika Zibanejad and Kyle Turris also had shootout goals for the Senators. Nick Bonino and Radim Vrbata scored in the shootout, and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Predators 5-4 Tuesday night to avoid being swept by Nashville. The Canucks padded their lead to four points over Calgary for second place in the Pacific Division with their second win in two nights. Eddie Lack stopped all four Nashville shots in overtime, then turned away attempts by Mike Santorelli and Filip Forsberg in the shootout. Alexandre Burrows had a goal and an assist for Vancouver. The only thing more critical than winning for the Boston Bruins was doing it in regulation. Milan Lucic scored the tiebreaking goal with 1:09 left as Boston rallied to beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 Tuesday night and maintained its hold on the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Florida was one of two teams with a realistic chance at catching the Bruins, who held a three-point lead on Ottawa and were four points up on the Panthers entering Tuesday. Ovechkin netted No. 50 in a season for the sixth time, tying a team record in the process with his 472nd career goal, and added an assist Tuesday night to help the Washington Capitals push toward a playoff berth by beating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2. Only five other players reached the half-century mark at least six times: Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy had nine, and Mario Lemieux, Marcel Dionne and Guy Lafleur had six.
