Australian Olympic cyclist Jack Bobridge charged with drug offences

Olympic Sports, Cycling

Australia's Olympic and Commonwealth Games medal-winning cyclist Jack Bobridge has been charged with drug offences after the police raided his house in Perth on Wednesday.

Bobridge, who retired from cycling because of rheumatoid arthritis following last year's Rio Olympic Games, appeared at Perth Magistrates court on Thursday to face drug dealing charges. The 28-year-old was bailed and will reappear in court next month.

Police said Bobridge had been charged with several counts of selling and supplying MDMA.

Bobridge won a silver medal in the team pursuit at last year's Olympic Games, adding to his silver in the same event at the London Games four years earlier. A veteran of three Olympic Games, Bobridge also won Commonwealth Games gold and is three-times world pursuit champion.
