OTTAWA (AP) -Alex Kovalev scored three times, including the 400th of his career, to help the Ottawa Senators beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 on Saturday night.

With the score tied 2-2 late in the third, Kovalev took a shot on an Ottawa power play that deflected off the skate of Hurricanes defenseman Jay Harrison and past Manny Legace for goal No. 400. Kovalev added an empty-net goal in the final minute.

Jason Spezza also scored for the Senators, and Brian Elliott made 23 saves. Ray Whitney scored twice for the Hurricanes, and Legace stopped 33 shots.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Todd Bertuzzi scored in regulation and overtime for the second straight night, lifting Detroit past Nashville.

Bertuzzi forced a turnover by Nashville's David Legwand and beat goalie Pekka Rinne to the glove side on a breakaway 24 seconds into the extra session. On Friday night, Bertuzzi scored in regulation and overtime in Detroit's 3-2 home win over Anaheim.

Drew Miller also scored for Detroit. Legwand and Ryan Jones scored for Nashville.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Evgeni Malkin scored a power-play goal 37 seconds into overtime for Pittsburgh, 8-2-1 in its last 11 games.

Pascal Dupuis and Ruslan Fedotenko also scored for Pittsburgh, which has won all three games against the Panthers this season in overtime or a shootout by 3-2 scores.

Steven Reinprecht and Stephen Weiss scored for Florida.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Patrik Elias and Niclas Bergfors each scored two goals and Martin Brodeur made 22 saves for New Jersey.

Brian Rolston and Travis Zajac each added two assists for the Devils, winners of eight of their last 10 games. Claude Giroux scored for Philadelphia. The Flyers have only two wins in their last 12 games.

TORONTO (AP) - Matt Stajan had two goals and an assist and Toronto beat Washington, giving it three straight wins at home for the first time since January 2008.

Phil Kessel, Niklas Hagman, Lee Stempniak and Alexei Ponikarovsky also scored for Toronto, 7-3-0 in its last 10 games and 11-14-7 overall. Kessel also had two assists.

Nicklas Backstrom scored twice, and Alex Ovechkin added a goal for Washington.

ATLANTA (AP) - Ilya Kovalchuk scored a power-play goal at 1:18 overtime, and Johan Hedberg stopped 16 shots to help Atlanta snap a three-game losing streak.

Christoph Schubert, Colby Armstrong and Nik Antropov scored for the Thrashers in regulation. Andrei Kostitsyn had two second-period goals for Montreal, and Glen Metropolit also scored.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Frans Nielsen scored 24 seconds into overtime to snap New York's losing streak at three games.

Matt Moulson had a goal and an assist for the Islanders, and Rob Schremp scored his first NHL goal. David Krejci and Michael Ryder scored for Boston.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Dan Sexton, Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry scored goals and Jonas Hiller stopped 35 shots to lead Anaheim.

R.J. Umberger scored for Columbus. The Blue Jackets have lost 10 of their last 12.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 37 shots, and Radim Vrbata and Robert Lang scored to help Phoenix extend San Jose's losing streak to five games.

The Coyotes have won six of seven to climb into sixth place in the Western Conference. Dany Heatley scored for the Sharks.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Henrik Sedin set up first-period goals by twin brother Daniel Sedin, Mason Raymond and Alex Burrows for Vancouver.

Ryan Kesler also scored, and Roberto Luongo made 38 saves. Shane Hnidy, Greg Zanon and Martin Havlat scored for Minnesota.

NEW YORK (AP) - Tough guy Patrick Kaleta scored twice for Buffalo, including the tiebreaking goal in the second period.

Derek Roy also scored, and Ryan Miller made 36 saves. Ryan Callahan and Marian Gaborik- with his NHL-leading 22nd - had power-play goals for New York.
